jasper2Being specialized in Design for Interaction, my main focus lies on designing from the end-users perspective. But instead of concentrating only on the users and their wishes, I find it important to put this user-centric design in a commercial context; developing products that fit and reinforce brands in consumers mind by offering an unique and friendly experience.

Next to this strategic experience design, I’m mostly interested in 2D design (graphics, icons, interfaces) and computer technologies. clinct.com

Still a great set of words for the design community, so I’ll keep them there as my introduction.

Having completed my Bachelor in Computer Science, I switched to Design for Interaction. My main focus is learning how I can combine computer science with design to create a league of nice products that user’s will love. So far my experience has been great and the learning experience excellent.

My main focus in this team will be the creation of a physical prototype, which will hopefully be able to mimic and approach all the interaction that we will think of.

I believe in designing products that serve a greater common good. Products that can have a change effect on a bigger scale. I like seeing the bigger picture and then try to position all that I encounter in its right place. Designing just the next coffee machine would not do the trick. A product should tell its own story and have its unique “Raison d’ Etre”.

Only by combining technology and creativity a designer is able to design a product that has more value than it’s predecessor. Therefore, being a designer, I believe it is essential to stay up-to-date to be able to contribute to this ever growing world.

Staying informed about the latest and greatest in the world of product and interaction design, is something I really enjoy. This constant stream of information works as an inspirator and enables me to think different and wonder about the endless future possibilities. Mass-creation of information and publicly sharing this information can rapidly accelerate the development of any project.

So what is the goal here? Ultimately, I believe designers and engineers, should strife towards creating abundance by using the planets resources in a responsible and smart way. Abundance is the only way to free humans from the efforts we continue to encounter during our lives. Abundance of resources like energy, health, food, clean drinking water etc. enables humans to use their ideas to create the tools we need to make our lives just a little more pleasant.

During the ITD project the Tate Team also consisted of: Sophie Lotgering, Pauline Spengermann, Judith van der Werf. The biggest part of the concept was developed with the six of us.
